Michael L. Bloom

Michael L. Bloom earned his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he served as a Teaching Fellow and worked to help launch a community development bank. He earned his B.A. “with Highest Distinction” from the University of Michigan, where he studied American history and was a Dean’s Merit Scholar and a member of the Bentley Society.

He has practiced corporate and transactional law at Sidley Austin LLP, with a focus on technology transactions and mergers and acquisitions.

At the Law School, he teaches contracts, business, and transactional law classes, including Contracts and Commercial Transactions, Negotiation and Mediation, Contemporary and Contentious Issues in Contracts, and Financial Accounting. In addition, he is a co-founder and Executive Director of the Law School’s Corporate Lab, which connects the law departments at major corporations with students at the Law School. The Lab provides a forum for students to work on cutting-edge projects and to learn about “real-world” legal issues from those in the trenches.

His teaching and research interests include contracts (in theory and practice), intellectual property, corporations, and business law.
