Douglas C. Barnard is Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of CF Industries, an agrichemical company that went public in 2005 and emerged victorious in 2010 following a fifteen-month, four-way hostile takeover battle. Previously, Mr. Barnard was an Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Bcom3, an advertising group with 500 offices in 90 countries; Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of LifeStyle Furnishings, an international furniture manufacturer and private equity portfolio company; and a partner in the private equity group at Kirkland & Ellis. He received a B.S. in physics from M.I.T. in 1979, a J.D. from the University of Minnesota with honors in 1982, and an M.B.A in finance and accounting from Chicago Booth with high honors in 1998. Mr. Barnard also serves on the board of directors of Terra Nitrogen Company (NYSE:TNH), and is a volume coauthor of Ginsburg and Levin, Mergers, Acquisitions, and Buyouts.
