Pamela D. Alexander

Pamela D. Alexander is director of the Animal Law Program at the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF). In this capacity, she oversees programs dedicated to the development of animal law in academia and legal practice. These programs include supporting over one hundred Student Animal Legal Defense Fund chapters; managing ALDF’s extensive Attorney Volunteer Network; and partnering with firms and attorneys interested in developing animal law opportunities with ALDF. Prior to joining ALDF, Ms. Alexander was in private practice and cotaught the first animal law course at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. While in law school, she cofounded Sheltering Animals of Abuse Victims (SAAV), a nonprofit animal protection organization dedicated to recognizing the role of animals in family violence. Ms. Alexander is a frequent writer and speaker on animal law related issues, including testifying on a congressional panel regarding the recently introduced federal Farm Animals Anti-Cruelty Act.
