Joe Alesia is a Managing Director at Stroz Friedberg, a digital risk management and investigations firm. Joe provides strategic and technical consulting related to cybercrime, data breach, digital forensics, internal investigations, compliance risk assessments and monitoring related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”), and electronic discovery. Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Joe was a Senior Counsel on the Ethics & Compliance team at Baxter International Inc. While with Baxter, he managed the company’s global internal investigations program and was responsible for managing the company’s response to United States government inquiries involving the company’s practices in relation to anti-kickback and FCPA statutes.
Prior to joining Baxter, Joe served for over seven years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois and for over ten years as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County, Illinois. As a prosecutor, Joe tried over sixty-five cases to verdict in state and federal courts, litigated appeals before the Seventh Circuit Courts of Appeals and the Illinois Appellate Court, and conducted hundreds of bench trials and evidentiary hearings. Joe held supervisory positions as a federal and state prosecutor, received numerous awards for his service and was a frequent instructor for the Department of Justice. He graduated from DePaul University College of Law in 1991, and received his BS from Valparaiso University in 1988.
