Recent Developments in the Corporate Lab - Transactional Clinic

Since David Zarfes, Michael Bloom and Sean Kramer co-founded the Corporate Lab in 2009, the Lab has continued to expand its influence into corporate America.  This year the Lab is proud to have Integrys Energy Group and a world-class technology company joining its already impressive corporate roster. These companies add to both the breadth and depth of practical legal issues that Lab students face.

The interesting projects and high-quality work draw students and major companies to work together in the Corporate Lab. In-house counsel have used the work product produced by Lab students in presentations, negotiations, and board meetings.  Lab projects completed recently include:

  • Publishing, through the ABA Criminal Justice Section’s Global Anti-Corruption Task Force, the Corporate Lab’s special report: "Complying with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act: A Practical Primer."  Read more here.
  • Creating a primer on legal issues facing the retail industry to assist a company in expanding its
retail operations. Annotating and drafting model bylaws for a company’s subsidiaries and other corporate structure issues.
  • Annotating and drafting model bylaws for a company’s subsidiaries and other corporate structure issues.
  • Analyzing a company’s online customer purchase terms as against those of other key industry competitors.
  • Drafting a practical legal memorandum intended for use by the company’s business personnel discussing the “fair use” exception to copyright law.
