Mental Health Summit
ACTION ITEMS:
- The Governor is considering eliminating all funding for the Illinois Homeless Prevention Program. This effective program has already been reduced to just $1.5 million, a reduction of 87% since 2008. 89% of the families who receive assistance under this program stay housed. But last year 9,000 families were turned away because of inadequate funding. Please call Governor Quinn and urge him to include $5 million for the Homeless Prevention Program in the budget he will present in February. You can leave this message for the Governor at 312-814-2121 or 217-782-0244.
- Call or write Mayor Emanuel and your alderman and urge continued and expanded support for the Chicago Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) progam which helps Chicago police officers in responding to emergencies involving persons with serious mental illnesses.
