- Pay particular attention to these registration text fields
- Under “Scheduling Notes:” tell us about any special interview schedule needs
- Under “Position Description:” tell students about any particular practice area requirements (i.e., patent practice requires science/engineering degree). Do not enter any class rank preferences, since the Law School does not rank its students.
- Under “Additional Requests:” tell us about any particular interviewer needs (i.e., diet restrictions, travel itinerary requirements). Since students will not be uploading cover letters, writing samples, and transcripts during the bidding process, you may only request that these documents be brought to the interview.
- Click the “Submit” button
If you are registering for multiple office locations, you may find the document, “Handling OCI Schedule Requests on Symplicity” helpful in determining the configuration of your interview schedule(s).
Contact Paul Woo, Director of Career Services, if you have any questions about configuring your interview schedules on the registration. He may be reached at 773-834-0918 or p-woo1@uchicago.edu.
Paper Registration Employers wishing to complete a hard copy registration may do so by downloading the registration form found at the end of this page. Complete and return the Registration Form by April 25, 2008. We cannot accept reservations by telephone or fax.
REGISTRATION OBLIGATIONS: FEES AND ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEW POLICIES
Fees The Law School requires two employer fees in order to participate in the Fall OCI Program:
Interview Date Registration Fee: This initial fee helps the Law School offset some initial service costs and ensures that in the event of your cancellation, resumes of interested students will be sent to you. The registration fee payment is due at the time of your registration. The Registration Fee is non-refundable.

Government, Public Interest & Legal Services |

Interview Date Service Fee: The service fee is a charge that helps support our Fall On Campus Interview Program. A service fee is charged only to those employers who actually interview on their scheduled day. The fee is calculated according to the number of employer office(s) registered, the number of attorneys in the office(s), and the number of interview schedules utilized on the day of interviewing. Branch offices requiring their own interview schedules and interviewing separately from other office locations are treated as separate employers, and will incur a fee as such. The service fee includes the cost of the first interview schedule, and it can be adjusted for half-day schedules; schedules with four or fewer students are not charged. A Service Fee Invoice will be sent to employers in late November.

On-Campus Employer Interview Policies
Registering, on-line or otherwise, and participating in our Fall On Campus Interview Program obligates your agreement to the following Law School policies.
Student Prescreening and Interview Selection
It is the University of Chicago Law Schools’ policy not to permit the prescreening of student resumes for the purpose of on-campus interviewing. You are obliged to interview students who were successfully scheduled during the computerized bidding process. Class Rank
The University of Chicago Law School does not calculate students’ g.p.a., nor does it rank its students. Student Privacy
It is the Law Schools’ policy not to provide employers with demographic information about any of its students. In the same regard, we cannot provide employers with students campus address, telephone, or e-mail addresses. Equal Employment Opportunity Policy
The University of Chicago Law School is committed to the principle of equal opportunity for all persons on the basis of individual merit and without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, age, disability, or other factors irrelevant to work or study. The University of Chicago Law School requires all employers using the services and facilities of the Office of Career Services to comply with this policy; with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations; and with pertinent standards of the American Bar Association and the Association of American Law Schools. Pursuant to the Solomon Amendment and University of Chicago policy, an exception to this policy is granted to the United States military.
PROGRAM PROCEDURES
Interview Date Assignments
The interview date assignment process will begin after April 25, 2008, and will do our best to try to accommodate your date requests. The following date assignment guidelines apply:
-
National, Chicago, New York City, and Washington, DC law firm interview date assignments are based on the prior year’s date. For example, a law firm that interviewed in Week 3 last fall will be given priority for a Week 1 date assignment this year.
- First come, first served submission of registration form for other employers
- Public Interest and Government employers are given preference for early dates
No Hospitality Suite Arrangements
Unfortunately, we are not in a position to offer employers a hospitality suite. Given the abundance of employers who want to interview on-campus, all of our interview rooms must be dedicated to accommodating this need. Since interviews take place at the Graduate School of Business, we also must respect their prohibition of food in the interview suites.
Beginning this year, we will no longer be able to offer empty interview rooms (from employers who cancelled their interview schedule) as a hospitality suite on the interview day.
Interview Date Confirmation
Confirmation of your interview date will be made the week of May 26, 2008. Confirmation of your assigned date(s) will not be provided until your Registration Fee is received. To view your confirmed interview date: - Login into your University of Chicago Law School Symplicity account at https://law-uchicago-csm.symplicity.com/employers
- Click “On-Campus Interviewing” on the toolbar at the top of the page
- Click the “Confirmed Schedules” tab (make sure the “Session” drop down field is set to 2008 Fall OCI)
- Add the name(s) of your interviewer(s) by clicking on the assigned date, going to the “Interviewer(s)” field, and clicking the “Add Name” button
- Click “Profile” on the toolbar at the top of the page if you wish to add employer profile information for students’ viewing
Detailed information about transportation to and from the interview site, interview site and room location directions, check-in procedures, interviewer procedures, food, and breaks will be enclosed with the confirmation.
Student Interview Schedule(s)
The Symplicity algorithm generates a schedule complete with student interview times based on student bid preferences and availability, interview schedule capacity, and time availability. The published on-line schedule will also give you access to the resumes for students who were placed on the interview schedule.
Interview Schedule(s) and Resumes Publication
An e-mail will notify when your interview schedules are available for viewing. Simply:
-
• Login into your University of Chicago Law School Symplicity account at https://law-uchicago-csm.symplicity.com/employers
- Click “On-Campus Interviewing” on the toolbar at the top of the page
- Click the “Resume/Schedule Packets” tab to obtain a copy of the schedule with the students’ resumes behind it, or
- Click the “Interviews” tab for on-line viewing (verify the “Session” drop down field is set to 2008 Fall OCI). You are free to create your own Resume/Schedule packet of student interviewees by selecting all of them (click the blue plus sign), and then clicking the “Generate Resume/Applicant packet” button (the system will send you an e-mail notifying you that your packet is ready and available)
Interview Schedule(s) Student Overflow (unscheduled students)
Interviewing employers also have access to students who are on an overflow list of students who did not get scheduled. To view them:
-
Login into your University of Chicago Law School Symplicity account at https://law-uchicago-csm.symplicity.com/employers
- Click “On-Campus Interviewing” on the toolbar at the top of the page
- Click the “Overflow Interest” tab (verify the “Session” drop down field is set to 2008 Fall OCI) to see the students and their resumes. You are free to create your own Resume/Schedule packet of overflow students by selecting any of them, and then clicking the “Generate Resume/Applicant packet” button (the system will send you an e-mail notifying you that your packet is ready and available)
You are permitted to review the list and encourage anyone on the overflow list to sign up for any available blank time slot during the Open Sign up period for your interview date (that period begins 48 hours and ends 24 hours in advance of your interview date). Employers are not permitted to add any overflow students to the interview schedule(s).
Be mindful that some students on the overflow list may already appear on the interview schedule if you had a multi-office interview schedule configuration; these students submitted multiple bids for other offices, but could only interview one time. They are easily identified in the last column “Other Interviews.”
