Application Timeline
Below is a summary of important dates for applicants to the University of Chicago Law School. While the Admissions Office does its best to follow this timeline, please remember that we have a holistic review process and are always trying to make the best decisions possible.
September 1
Applications may be submitted online through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) electronic application process (all application materials must be submitted electronically; we do not accept any paper materials)
December 1
Application deadline for the Early Decision program
Late December
Decisions released for Early Decision applicants
December - March
Decisions released on a rolling basis for Regular Decision applicants
January
Information on admitted student events, financial aid, housing, and other matters will be available on the admitted student website (you will be given the password at the time of admission)
February 1
Application deadline for Regular Decision applicants
Need Access Form due (required for consideration for need-based scholarships)
February - March
Financial aid information (scholarship decisions and general information) sent to applicants who have submitted Need Access applications. Some named fellowships may not be announced until after admitted applicants have committed to enrolling.
March 1
FAFSA deadline for preliminary financial aid information (loans) from the Student Loan Administration
Mid-April
Admitted Students Weekend (remember to check back for specific dates)

Commitment deadline

FAFSA and Graduate Student Loan Application due to Student Loan Administration for priority financial aid processing
Late June
First summer e-letter sent to incoming students (will include information on obtaining your University e-mail account and CNetID, laptop computer recommendations, student health insurance and immunizations, first-year orientation, and other essential information)

Deadline for submitting photos for the Law School Facebook ("The Glass Menagerie")
Mid-August
Bursar sends out Autumn Quarter bills
Mid-September
Deadline for payment of Autumn Quarter bills

Orientation (events generally include tours of the Law School and the University; panel presentations on academic activities, life beyond the Law School, and placement; a Lake Michigan boat ride; dinner at a popular Chicago restaurant; and an evening at the Second City comedy club)
