Real estate website Zillow.com this week announced the appointment of Kathleen Philips as general counsel.

James Santelle will be sworn in Wednesday at the federal court in Milwaukee. He'll become the 34th U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

Santelle was appointed to the position in December by President Barack Obama.

U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. - the state's first elected woman to serve in the Senate - will deliver the fourth annual Eugene J. McCarthy Lecture at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30 at the Stephen B. Humphrey Theater, Saint John's University, Collegeville.

The study of corporate governance was barely emerging in 1985 when Nell Minow—pregnant with her second child and looking for a part-time job—entered the field with modest ambitions.

“I really didn’t care too much what the job was. I just wanted it to be interesting, and I wanted to be on the side with the good guys,” says Minow, JD’77.

Tom Dimond, '90, has joined Ice Miller's environmental practice group. He previously worked as a partner at Mayer Brown LLP in Chicago where he represented clients in trial and appellate litigation on environmental cases.

Thomas R. Lee was sworn in July 19th as the Utah Supreme Court's newest justice.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, for whom Lee clerked in the mid-1990s, delivered the oath of office.

"I believe he is perfectly suited for this office," Thomas told a standing-room only crowd in the court's chambers. "Tom Lee's life has prepared him for this calling."

On July 8, President Obama announced his intent to appoint Ronald A. Cass, '73, as a Member of the Council of the Administrative Conference of the United States, along with several other individuals.

Christopher A. Roach has joined Adams and Reese as Special Counsel, practicing out of the firm's Tampa office.

Mr. Roach has been practicing as a trial lawyer since 2001, beginning his private practice at the Baker Botts firm in Texas and working most recently with Ruden McClosky in Orlando.
