Dr. Kameron Matthews, '06, the primary care physician to all transgender inmates at Cook County Jail, appeared on Chicago Tonight on March 12 to talk about transgender policies at Cook County Jail.

Rachel Partain, an Of Counsel of Caplin & Drysdale, has been named a recipient of the prestigious 2012 Nolan Fellowship awarded by the American Bar Association Section of Taxation to a select group of outstanding young tax lawyers across the nation.

Blake Sercye, an associate at Jenner & Block, has been named by Governor Pat Quinn to the Illinois Medical District Commission, the seven-member board that oversees development on Chicago's Near West Side. Mr. Sercye was a political director of Rahm Emanuel’s 2011 mayoral campaign and was a field coordinator for Mr. Quinn’s 2010 gubernatorial campaign.

James E. Brown, '83, has joined Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Brown comes to OCC from Schiff Hardin LLP, where he has served since 1983

John M. Mejia, '03, will take over as legal director of the ACLU of Utah.

Mejia has previously worked at Chicago-based Sidley Austin, in the firm’s insurance and financial services group. His specialties there included insurance class action defense, reinsurance litigation, and complex litigation.

Leonardo Loo, ’96, a partner in Quarles & Brady’s Phoenix office, has been appointed to serve as general counsel for the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (“AZHCC”). In addition, he will serve on the chamber’s board of directors and executive committee.
