Andrew J. Abrams '00 and Steve Blonder '93 have been elected to the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Center of Chicago (JCC Chicago) for a one-year term, 2010-2011. Abrams and Blonder join a group of 40 other Directors and 16 Honorary Directors.

Joseph K. "Kenny" Alston, '98, has been named as legal counsel in Rhode Island Governor-elect Lincoln Chafee's restructured legal office. Alston was on the policy and finance committees for Chafee's winning gubernatorial campaign.

Jenner & Block Partner David J. Bradford, '76, was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, widely considered to be the premier professional trial organization in America.  He was inducted in a ceremony during the ACTL’s recent Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

United Continental Holdings announced this week that Brett J. Hart, '94, will become its senior vice president, general counsel and secretary.  Hart will join the company by Dec. 15.

Genita Robinson, class of '96 (and former Assistant Dean for Admissions at the Law School), has announced her candidacy for Alderman of Chicago's 2nd Ward.

The National Bar Association has named Jennifer Fisher '98, General Counsel at Marshall & Swift/Boeckh one of its "Top Lawyers Under 40" and honored her with its Innovation Award. “The award is for attorneys that leverage technology and other innovative approaches,” she explains.

In early 2007, Debra Cafaro '82 and her staff at Ventas, a health care real estate investment trust, had just announced a nearly $2 billion acquisition when a competitor swooped in to try to upend the deal. Ventas prevailed, but it took months.

Victor Bass, University of Chicago alumnus (Class of 1968) and University of Chicago Law alumnus (1973) was selected by an independent blue ribbon committee of his peers as a New England Super Lawyer.

Appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to lead the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, Commissioner Caswell F. (Cas) Holloway, '02, took office on January 1, 2010. Prior to his appointment, he served as Chief of Staff to Deputy Mayor for Operations Edward Skyler and as Special Advisor to Mayor Bloomberg.

Lisa Scruggs, '98, a partner at Jenner & Block, has been named to Crain's Chicago's "40 Under 40" list for 2010. She is just one of four people honored in the "Law/Utilities" category. The Crain's website features a description of her practice as well as a video interview.
