Change of Registration (Add/Drop)
Adding & Dropping Law School Classes.
Law School students are strongly encouraged to have their course of study set by the end of the first week of each academic quarter.
Courses. Please set your course registration before the end of the first week. If necessary, students may drop a course through the end of the third week. Students may only drop a course after the end of the third week with the approval of the Dean of Students. Such requests will only be granted under extraordinary circumstances (e.g., death in the immediate family).
Seminars. The following rules are designed to enable as many students as possible to take advantage of seminar offerings. It is imperative that registered students not wishing to take a seminar indicate that they are vacating their seat.
Registered students (those rostered through the lottery process, or students admitted during the first meeting) who decide not to take the seminar into which they were lotteried, must go online and drop it before noon of the day following the first meeting.
Registered students who attend the first session and sign the roster are presumed to be in the seminar and may not drop it after noon of the day following the first session.
Any student who is registered for a seminar and decides not to take it and attempts to drop it after noon of the day following the first session may receive a "W" or "F" on his/her academic record (at the professor's discretion).
General Information. The add/drop system provides for real-time adds and drops through the end of the first week. Students may drop online through the end of the third week. Students may register for courses during weeks two and three with professor permission and by contacting the Registrar's Office.
All changes to registration must conclude prior to the end of the third week of classes. Courses dropped after that will remain on a student's record and be given the mark of "W" (or "F" at the professor's discretion).
Students sitting for an exam or submitting work in courses for which they are not registered will not receive a grade.
