Bigelow course description
LEGAL RESEARCH AND WRITING. 30711. 30721. 30731. All first-year students participate in the legal-research and writing program under the supervision of one of the Bigelow Teaching Fellows. The work requires the student to become familiar with the standard tools and techniques of legal research, and to write analyzing a series of memoranda and other documents representative of the lawyers regular tasks. In the Spring Quarter, each legal-writing section is divided into teams of students to prepare briefs in an appellate case and to argue the case before a panel of judges composed of members of the faculty and practicing lawyers. A prize, the Joseph Henry Beale Prize, is awarded for the outstanding written work in each legal-writing section. The Bigelow Fellows also serve as tutor-advisors on an informal basis. Autumn (2), Winter (1), Spring (1).
