Conference on Transplant Policy
Sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute and the John M. Olin Program in Law and Economics at the University of Chicago Law School
July 6 and 7, 2007
To be held at the University of Chicago Law School, 1111 East 60th Street
Room V
This Conference is intended to discuss and evalute from a variety of disciplines—medicine, law, and economics—the consequences that would come from the institution of some legalized market that introduces some form of incentives to persons who supply organs either during life or at death. The proposals in question range from the full legalization of organ sales, to more limited schemes including the pair-organ donation programs that have recently be sanctioned under the Norwood Act to other form of tax or inkind benefits that could be supplied. The problem will be approached from both a theoretical and empirical point of view and will contain evaluations of many of the new initiatives that are percolating through this area.
You must register with Marjorie Holme, mholme@uchicago.edu, 773-702-0220 if you wish to attend this event.
