Michael K. Fridkin, Senior Staff Attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, will be speaking about clerkship opportunities with the Staff Attorneys Office.

The Staff Attorneys Office handles about half of all the cases in the Seventh Circuit and about a fourth of all cases subject to oral argument.  Staff law clerks work with all the judges of the Court rather than a single judge; they attend three-judge panels in weekly deliberative conferences on cases not subject to oral argument, exposing them to an internal decision-making process unavailable to chambers clerks; and staff law clerks assist the judges in resolving motions or preliminary matters that address complex questions of procedure and jurisdiction or seek preliminary or emergency relief.  Appendix A of the Clerkship Manual has a list of alumni that have worked in the Office of Staff Law Clerks at the Seventh Circuit.
